Yes, in our interview with Yekutiel he did comment that it's "sort of a misnomer Halloween left," which is why the second paragraph said "while people have always celebrated Halloween in the Castro ..."
A big press blitz happened last year touting Halloween's "return," which we can only imagine was equal parts fabricated for clicks as it was about perhaps support from city leadership for its return. Alongside the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who have been linked to Halloween for decades, and are also credited for reviving it in Castro in the 1990s.
Your comment is very sour grapes regarding Comfort & Joy, a Burning Man camp, party thrower and community organizer which we have 100 percent zero beef with. C&J's presence in SF is prominent and celebrated. But in the context of Halloween they are also leading their own event, as always, not a neighborhood effort to represent Halloween festivities in this region of San Francisco.
If you would rather see a feature on C&J within The Bold Italic or elsewhere please just have someone reach out. We have great writers, photographers and videographers who would love to - albeit the 26th is a crowded day this year.
